CICS Systems Engineer
Job Description
Rezult Group continues to make great strides toward enhancing the technology services community nationwide. We are consistently looking for qualified professionals to join us in achieving success. Currently we are searching for a CICS Systems Engineer to fulfill an immediate full-time vacancy.
This position is a Full-Time, Contract-to-Hire (6-Month EBH) position that sits fully remote.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
•        Administer and maintain the CICS Transaction Server (TS) subsystem, including region management, CSD configuration, resource definition, and day-to-day operational support
•        Plan and execute CICS version upgrades, function-level upgrades, and ongoing PTF/APAR maintenance to keep the subsystem current and stable
•        Monitor CICS region performance, conduct tuning analysis, and implement corrective actions to ensure optimal transaction throughput and availability
•        Develop and maintain automation scripts to support CICS operations and reduce manual effort; primary language is REXX with openness to Python and BASH
•        Serve as the systems-side liaison to CICS application development teams, addressing infrastructure-level questions and supporting shared operational goals
•        Coordinate with IBM and other technology vendors on product support, maintenance, and issue resolution; support additional subsystems as needed based on team priorities
Position Requirements:
•        Demonstrated hands-on experience supporting CICS at the systems or infrastructure level — including region administration, CSD management, or subsystem tuning — OR a strong background as a CICS application developer (COBOL/CICS) with a clear desire to transition into systems programming
•        Working familiarity with z/OS and the mainframe infrastructure ecosystem; ability to navigate and operate across the broader mainframe environment
•        Proficiency in REXX scripting; exposure to Python or BASH for automation tasks is a plus
•        Experience with CICS version upgrades, PTF application, or function-level migration processes
•        Strong interpersonal and communication skills — this is a highly collaborative, tenured team that values professionalism, humility, and low-drama working relationships; cultural fit is weighted heavily
•        Nice to have: BMC tool experience, CICS-DB2 integration knowledge, CICS Transaction Gateway, RACF security concepts as they relate to CICS regions
