This is a 1+ year contract position. Reporting onsite M-F in downtown Birmingham. Sponsorship is not provided. Applicants cannot require sponsorship now or in the future.

We’re seeking an experienced Data Scientist with advanced analytical skills and a deep understanding of the scientific method. The ideal candidate excels at transforming complex datasets into clear insights, building robust statistical and machine learning models, and communicating findings through compelling data visualizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform end‑to‑end data wrangling, cleaning, and preparation for analysis and modeling.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify patterns, trends, and actionable insights.
- Develop, test, and refine statistical and machine learning models using best‑practice methodologies.
- Work with large datasets using big data processing tools and frameworks.
- Create clear, engaging data visualizations to communicate findings across technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Apply a rigorous scientific approach to hypothesis testing and experimental design.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate business needs into analytical solutions.
Required Qualifications
- 5–10 years of professional experience in data science, analytics, or a related field.
- Advanced proficiency in statistics and quantitative analysis.
- Expert‑level skills in at least one programming language commonly used in data science (R or Python required).
- Strong experience developing and deploying machine learning algorithms (e.g., regression, classification, clustering, ensemble methods, etc.).
- Familiarity with big data technologies and ecosystems (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, distributed computing platforms).
- Proven ability to create intuitive and compelling data visualization products using tools such as Python libraries, R packages, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to approach problems methodically and creatively.
